Description

Most travelers encounter Egypt through a wall of exhaust, midday glare, and crowds. This studio journey exists for the rare few who wish to hear the desert wind between the paws of the Great Sphinx and touch the cold, polished megaliths of Khafre’s causeway in absolute morning stillness.

Your senior Egyptologist meets you at the Southern Desert Gate before the plateau opens, leads you up the Grand Gallery while the King’s Chamber is still empty, and closes the morning in the 4th-century crypts of Coptic Cairo, long before the heat and the coaches arrive.

Day-by-Day Field Itinerary

  1. Board your ship on the Luxor Corniche at noon and settle into your cabin over lunch on deck. In the afternoon walk among the 134 columns of Karnak’s Great Hypostyle Hall, then follow the Avenue of Sphinxes to Luxor Temple as its colonnades light up at dusk.
